Seeking a guideline judgment on suspended sentences

On 13 December 2004, the Attorney General  asked us to look into the the feasibility of obtaining a guideline judgment on the use of suspended sentences.

Interim report

We transmitted our Interim Report: Seeking a Guideline Judgment on Suspended Sentences (PDF, 649.9 KB) to the Attorney General on 26 September 2005. It was published in July 2006.

Terms of reference

Under s 100J(1)(b) of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 (NSW) the Sentencing Council was asked to consider the feasibility of a guideline judgment application for suspended sentences.
