As part of our community education mandate, and in response to a request from the Attorney General, we undertook a survey, in conjudction with the NSW Bureau of Crime Research and Statistics, to ascertain NSW community attitudes to sentencing and the criminal justice system.
The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research published the joint survey as Crime and Justice Bulletin No 118: Public confidence in the New South Wales criminal justice system in August 2008.
The Attorney General responded to the findings of the joint survey:
We published a monograph by Anna Butler and Catherine McFarlane - Public confidence in the NSW criminal justice system (PDF, 261.2 KB) (PDF, 261.2 KB) in May 2009. It included further discussion of the findings of the joint survey.
